Last weekend we packed up quickly because the sun came out to do a hike - however, because of "Lambing" the trail was closed.
On the drive back, we saw on the map a beach that said, "Murdering Beach"
So of course, we had to go......although that title is a little ominous. We all wondered why someone would name a gorgeous spot such a nasty name. We ended up meeting some kiwi's that were camping down there...they said that - yes, there was a murder - but in the 1800's.
These Kiwi's also invited us for dinner, they were super friendly 20year old kids. Dinner was the shell fish that they scooped out of the little pools.
They said best shelling is after a storm during low tide, but you can find shellfish anytime. They told us not to eat shellfish if it wasn't out of a pool or we'd get sick. If it was just John and I, then we probably would have hung out a little with them, but not with our kids in tow since they were drinking.
(kids wouldn't eat shell fish anyway)
Ellie loves these little tide pools - better than a trunk full of toys. So many treasures and natural wonders.
For me, the Ocean is still such a novelty. Being a "mountain-girl" I find the whole experience of the sea, sand and seals such a treat!

Another perk in New Zealand - amazing sunsets at the Beach. Wow! IT is soooo gorgeous here! I can't believe that this is 15 minuets from our home in Dunedin!
