Slot Canyons - Peekaboo & Spooky - Grand Staircase Utah

Beginning of the hike into the slot canyon

Grand Staircase in Escalate Utah is always a good pick.
This trip we had limited time, so we ended up doing the most touristy thing possible. For John this is not ideal since we loves to be in the back-country all alone, but these places in southern Utah are just buzzing, so it is better to have a good attitude in my opinion. There is so much beauty.

To get there - Long 25 miles dirt road on Hole-in-the-Rock Road from Highway 12. You are heading toward Dry Fork Road northeast into the desert.

Try to go early before all the tourists, Spooky Gulch and Peek-a-boo are a super fun scramble into slot canyons. These is some fun climbing and squeezing in tight spaces. Ellie loves this kind of hiking. This loop is about 3.5 miles.

Be sure to pack water and your best camera, there is magic light in these spaces.
